Snorkeling with Mexi Divers Tulum

One exciting way to get a deeper cultural immersion in Tulum is to go snorkeling! I’ve gone out with Mexi Divers twice now and have had great experiences both times. Their office is centrally located in Tulum and takes off right from the shore. Both times we’ve gone directly toward the ruins and the boat captain offered to take a photo with the beautiful backdrop.

From there we go out to the great Mesoamerican Reef, with over 500 species of fish, sea turtles and coral. We saw dozens of turtles, manta rays, colorful fish and beautiful coral.

Tips:

  1. Bring a GoPro! Or an underwater camera… I was the only one in my group who had one and was nice enough to take photos of everyone and email them off to them.
  2. Don’t bring anything you don’t want to get wet. You get on the boat by walking waist deep into the water and can carry a bag on board but if the sea is rough that day you might fall in first.
  3. Bring a towel! I forgot mine and luckily it was warm and sunny out on the boat ride back or I would have surely frozen.
