Abalone House – Paternoster, South Africa

The Abalone House was a serendipitous find on the way back to Cape Town after spending the weekend at Bushmans Kloof. We had planned to drive the entire 250km back to Cape Town via Velddrif and Langebaan, but after a few navigational errors and the entire day lost on dirt backroads, we decided to stop in Paternoster for dinner. We circled a lot of the town not finding what we wanted until there was a little sign for the restaurant at Abalone House. After a quick scope we decided that it was so charming that we were going to check in and stay! Since we weren’t driving the rest of the night we celebrated our find with a bottle of Dark Lady of the Labyrinth Pinotage and it turned out to be the best wine of the entire trip!
